The Veil of Bone (poem)
a illustration I made in 2015
She weeps behind an emerald gaze, where sorrow coils like ivy, and shadows kiss her hollow cheek, a requiem of stolen grace.
Her hair, a river of twilight blue, winds through the ruins of memory, whispering secrets to the grave where half her face has turned to ash.
A mask of bone clings to her skin, a relic of forgotten hunger, while lips still dream of warmth, of breath that will not come again.
In the dim cathedral of her heart, a bell tolls for what she lost and what remains: beauty tangled in decay, and the promise that nothing is ever truly gone.
